HUD received over 1,400 housing discrimination complaints in NY State last year, a number they believe represents only 1% of actual discriminatory events. In the Spring of 2005, testers in Westchester County found questionable behavior or direct violation of the fair housing laws at nearly half of the real estate companies they visited. On June 21, 2006, a half-page newspaper report in Newsday announced that the National Fair Housing Alliance filed an administrative complaint against a Long Island REALTOR for steering related to race and school choices. Will YOU or YOUR COMPANY be the focus of a 2008 discrimination lawsuit? Whether unintentional or subtle, discrimination is against the law. People have a right to live wherever they can afford to live, and Realtors have an obligation to protect that right. Join us for a few hours to examine and modify your attitudes and behavior to treat all clients & customers equally. Be assured you will pass a tester's investigation with flying colors!
